About this project
This map displays police officer-involved shootings in the USA.
US police discharge their firearms every
day - yet there is no official website keeping tracking of
how many shots are fired or how many people are injured or killed as a
result. This map is a small step in the right direction.
The dataset is fetched from Dan Hammer's API,
with most of the data coming from the crowd-sourced set by the
Deadspin project.
Since we lack co-ordinates for each incident we have approximated locations based on city, county and state data.
Incident dates may also not be accurate.
Any improvements and bugfixes are more than welcome! Source is on Github.
